The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Broome County in central New York...
northern Susquehanna County in northeastern Pennsylvania...

* until 745 PM EDT.

* At 450 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. In some areas, more than 2
inches of rain has been estimated by the radar and rain gauges.
Torrential rain will continue and flooding is expected to get
worse.

Be especially cautious around Choconut creek, snake and little Snake
Creek, Pierce Creek and others.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Binghamton, Vestal, Johnson City, Endicott, Kirkwood, Conklin,
Maine, Sanford, Susquehanna and Susquehanna Depot.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a

* flood advisory for...
southern Broome County in central New York...
southern Tioga County in central New York...
Susquehanna County in northeastern Pennsylvania...
Wayne County in northeastern Pennsylvania...
eastern Bradford County in northeastern Pennsylvania...

* until 700 PM EDT.

* At 358 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated several clusters of
thunderstorms producing heavy rain. As much as 1 to 2 inches of
rain may fall in a very short amount of time. This will cause
minor flooding of streets, ditches and low lying areas in the
advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Binghamton, Vestal, Johnson City, Endicott, Barton, Kirkwood,
Sayre, Conklin, Honesdale and Waverly.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until midnight EDT
tonight...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania,
including the following areas, in central New York, Broome,
Chemung, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, Sullivan, and Tioga. In
northeast Pennsylvania, Bradford, Lackawanna, Luzerne,
northern Wayne, Pike, southern Wayne, Susquehanna, and
Wyoming.

* Until midnight EDT tonight

* numerous showers and thunderstorms will move through northeast
Pennsylvania and central New York into the evening hours. Storms
will contain torrential downpours, capable of producing
localized flash flooding. Areas with recent rainfall will be
particularly vulnerable.

* Flooding could quickly develop along creeks, small streams,
urban and in other low lying areas. Ponding of water on
roadways is likely to occur.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
