Heat Advisory
Issued: 4:18 AM EDT Jul. 21, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Heat advisory remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening...

* location... Schoharie valley, eastern Catskills, the northern
and central Taconics, Berkshires and southern Vermont.

* Heat index values... up to 104 due to high temperatures today in
the lower 90s and very high humidity.

* Timing... through today.

* Impacts... heat illnesses likely for those spending prolonged
periods of time outdoors or in non-air conditioned locations.
Prolonged heat is most dangerous for Young childed and the
elderly. Car temperatures can reach lethal temperatures in
minutes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned
room... stay out of the sun... and check up on relatives and
neighbors.

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in
vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during
warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal
temperatures in a matter of minutes.
