evening...

* what... lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations of up to
1 inch over southern Erie County and up to 5 inches into Wyoming
County. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

* Where... Wyoming and southern Erie counties.

* When... until 8 PM EST this evening.

* Impacts... plan on slippery Road conditions. Areas of blowing
snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous
conditions could impact the evening commute.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Lake effect snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If
traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing Road conditions and
visibilities.

northwestern Allegany and Ontario counties...

At 513 PM EST, a band of heavy lake effect snow was located across
central0 Chautauqua and northern Cattaraugus counties, extending
northeastward across Wyoming, Livingston and Ontario counties. This
band will continue to drop southward this evening. Expect snowfall
rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour, with areas of blowing snow as this
weather moves through.

Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be
prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra
time when traveling.

Locations impacted include...
Jamestown, Canandaigua, Geneseo, Salamanca, Dansville, Letchworth
State Park, Springville, Perry, Warsaw, Avon, Lakewood, Mount Morris,
Gowanda, Victor, Honeoye Falls, Conesus, Falconer, Bristol, Lima and
Ashford.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 390 between exits 4 and 10.
Interstate 86 between exits 4 and 16.
