Areal Flood Warning

... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 530 PM CDT for
northwestern Clay and northeastern Adams counties...

At 113 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms was again falling across the warned area. This will
cause minor flooding of the West Fork of the big Blue River to
continue or resume. 2 to 3 inches of rain have fallen the last 48
hours with up to an additional 1 inch possible this afternoon.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Flash Flood Watch, Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 2:39 PM CDT Aug. 24, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect through late tonight...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of north central Kansas and south central Nebraska,
including the following areas, in north central Kansas,
Osborne, Phillips, Rooks, and Smith. In south central
Nebraska, Adams, Buffalo, Dawson, Franklin, Furnas, Gosper,
Hall, Harlan, Kearney, Phelps, and Webster.

* Until 4:00 am

* there remains a potential for isolated pockets of heavy rain,
especially across north central Kansas and south of Highway 6 in
south central Nebraska, which could result in flash flooding.
Not all areas will receive heavy rain, but any additional amount
of rain would worsen the already soaked ground.

* Isolated rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches could occur.. with
locally higher amounts possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

The National Weather Service in Hastings has issued a

* flood advisory for...
Adams County in south central Nebraska...
Hall County in south central Nebraska...

* until 845 PM CDT Saturday.

* At 849 am CDT, Doppler radar indicated additional rainfall this
morning over areas that have already seen heavy rainfall the past
few days. In addition, steady to at times heavy rainfall is
expected off and on through much of the day. This will result in
continued minor flooding in the advisory area including street
flooding and flooding of rural area creeks. An additional 1 to 2.5
inches of rainfall is expected today.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Grand Island, Hastings, Doniphan, Juniata, Hansen and Alda.

deaths occur in vehicles.
