Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 3:35 AM CDT Jul. 16, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southern Illinois, western Kentucky, and all of
southeast Missouri, including the following areas, in southern
Illinois, Alexander, Johnson, Massac, Pulaski, and Union. In
western Kentucky, Ballard, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman,
and McCracken, as well as all of southeast Missouri.

* Through this evening

* locally heavy rainfall from the remnants of Tropical Storm Barry
will continue to affect the region. Showers and storms are
expected to increase in coverage and intensity today. The
primary hazard will be localized flash flooding from
thunderstorms with torrential rainfall. Storms could produce
hourly rainfall rates of up to 2 inches. Up to three inches of
rain has already fallen in parts of southeast Missouri.

* Flash flooding could lead to life threatening situations for
motorists and residents located in low lying areas or near
rapidly rising creeks.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
