Special Statement
Issued: 5:33 AM CST Dec. 14, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Freezing fog this morning...

At 530 am CST, freezing fog was developing in McCook, Nebraska.
Freezing fog will likely expand into surrounding areas in
southwest Nebraska and northwest Kansas as the morning progresses.
Dangerous travel conditions associated with reduced visibilities
and a thin coating of ice will be possible along Highway 6 in Red
Willow and Hitchcock counties, Highway 83 in Red Willow and
Decatur counties, and Highway 36 in Rawlins, Decatur, and Norton
counties.

Drivers are urged to slow down and exercise additional caution,
particularly at intersections and Highway onramps and offramps
where accidents are more likely to occur, and on elevated roadways
such as bridges and overpasses where ice is more likely to
accrue. Use low beam headlights and be prepared for rapid
reductions in visibility, especially near rivers, creeks and other
low lying areas.
