... Coastal flood advisory now in effect until 8 PM EDT this
evening...
... High rip current risk remains in effect through this evening...

* coastal flooding... sensitive and low-lying locations along the
Atlantic coast may experience minor flooding near the times of
high tide.

* Timing... coastal flood hazards will persist through at least
tonight especially during high tides. Rip current risk will
continue through tonight.

* Impacts... high wave heights and surf may cause beach erosion
and coastal flood impacts. Life threatening rip currents and
rough surf will pose a hazard to all swimmers. Heed the advice
of lifeguards. Swimming is not recommended.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.

There is a high risk of rip currents.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in The
Sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins, jetties
and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and
signs.

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
