Watches & Warnings

Excessive Heat Warning
Issued: 4:28 AM MDT Aug. 21, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Excessive heat warning remains in effect until 8 PM PDT /8 PM
MST/ Thursday...

* temperature... high temperatures around Las Vegas, Pahrump and
the morongo basin will range between 107 to 112 degrees
Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures in Death Valley National
Park and in the lower Colorado River valley will range from 113
to 120 degrees.

* Impacts... heat related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and
heat stroke will be possible. People most vulnerable to heat
illnesses include those who spend lots of time outdoors, those
without air conditioning, Young children, the elderly, and
those with chronic ailments.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in
vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during
warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal
temperatures in a matter of minutes.

An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur... creating a dangerous
situation in which heat illnesses are likely if precautions are
not taken. Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned
room... stay out of the sun... and check up on relatives and
neighbors.
