Flash Flood Warning
Issued: 7:34 PM MDT Aug. 22, 2019 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
north central Pima County in southeastern Arizona...

* until 1030 PM MST.

* At 729 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
very heavy rain across the warned area. Widespread areas of one to
two inches has already fallen with localized areas approaching
three inches. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly. Expect
flash flooding possibly impacting west Tucker Road, Manville Road
between reservation Road and Avra Road at Brawley wash. Also NY
low water crossings along Brawley wash and blanco wash could
experience flash flooding.

Additional rainfall amounts of greater than one inch are possible in
the warned area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 7:03 PM MDT Aug. 22, 2019 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a

* flood advisory for...
north central Pima County in southeastern Arizona...

* until 1000 PM MST.

* At 701 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
One to two inches of rain has already fallen south of Picture
Rocks and north of Three Points with other areas around 1 inch.
Additional rainfall of greater than one inch is possible.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Three Points, Saguaro National Park west, Tucson Estates, Valencia
west, Picture Rocks and Ryan airfield.

This includes the following highways...
Route 86 between mile markers 140 and 162.
Route 286 between mile markers 33 and 45.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

... The flood advisory remains in effect until 815 PM MST for east
central Pima and central Santa Cruz counties...

At 634 PM MST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
areas of heavy rain due to thunderstorms continue throughout the
advisory area. One to two inches of rain has fallen in several areas
and this will cause minor flooding. Storms are also now developing
in the Nogales area so additional areas of minor flooding is likely.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Sahuarita, Green Valley, Nogales, Tubac, Rio Rico, east Sahuarita,
Patagonia, Patagonia Lake State Park, Nogales International Airport,
Tumacacori, Amado, Kino Springs, Madera Canyon and Arivaca Junction.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 19 between mile markers 1 and 45.
Route 82 between mile markers 1 and 29.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
