Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 9:14 AM EST Dec. 13, 2019 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has extended the

* flood advisory for...
an ice jam in...
western Mecosta County in central Michigan...

* until 1045 am EST Saturday.

* At 906 am EST, emergency management reported that an ice jam on
the Muskegon river continues to cause minor flooding in the areas
of 183rd Avenue, Riverside Drive, and Maple street. At the lowest
spots along the river, water is affecting several buildings and
garages, especially on Riverside Drive.

* Water levels around ice jams are notoriously unpredictable, and
can change quickly with little or no warning. Warmer temperatures
are expected to lead to a gradual decrease in flooding over the
next day or two, but residents along the river should prepare for
the possibility of continued fluctuations in water levels.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
