Watches & Warnings

Heat Advisory
Issued: 10:12 AM EDT Jul. 19, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Heat advisory remains in effect until 8 PM EDT Saturday...

Hazardous weather...

* high temperatures are expected to reach into the upper 80s to
low 90s today and into the low to mid 90s Saturday. These
temperatures and increasing humidity will yield heat indices
peaking during the afternoon hours in the 95 to 100 degree
range today and 100 to 105 degree range Saturday.

* Low temperatures will only fall into the 70s each night
limiting the possible relief from the heat.

Impacts...

* the hot and humid air could lead to potentially hazardous
conditions, particularly for the elderly and those with pre-
existing health conditions. Heat-related illnesses will be
possible for those participating in extended outdoor activities
   today and Saturday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned
room... stay out of the sun... and check up on relatives and
neighbors.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible... reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.
