... Flash Flood Watch now in effect until 11 PM EDT this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* a portion of northern lower Michigan, including the following
areas, Alpena, Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Cheboygan,
Crawford, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee,
Montmorency, Otsego, and Presque Isle.

* Until 11 PM EDT this evening

* heavy rain will persist late this afternoon, then gradually
diminish from southwest to northeast this evening. The heaviest
total rainfall will occur from Frankfort and Leland, to Gaylord,
to Rogers City. Localized rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are
expected through early tonight. This has the potential to
produce flash flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
