Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 3:15 PM CDT Sep. 21, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect from 7 PM CDT this evening
through Sunday afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Kansas, south central Kansas, and
southeast Kansas, including the following areas, in central
Kansas, Chase and Marion. In south central Kansas, Butler and
Cowley. In southeast Kansas, Allen, Chautauqua, Elk,
Greenwood, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson, and Woodson.

* From 7 PM CDT this evening through early Sunday afternoon.

* Thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rain are expected to
develop across the Flint Hills and southeast Kansas late tonight
and continue through midday on Sunday. Rainfall amounts of 1 to
3 inches are expected with locally higher amounts possible. This
rainfall could cause flooding or flash flooding across the watch
area.

* Flash flooding or flooding of rivers, streams, and low water
crossing including some roadways could occur. Be especially
careful at night and do not drive through flooded roadways.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Remember to turn around, don't drown. You should monitor later
forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood
warnings be issued.
