Flood Warning
Issued: 8:51 AM EST Dec. 14, 2019 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Boston/Norton, MA has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Pawcatuck River at westerly.
* Until late Monday night... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 8:00 am Saturday the stage was 6.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 7.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will rise above flood stage by late this
morning and continue to rise to near 7.8 feet by tomorrow early
afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage by Monday evening.
* Impact... at 8.0 feet... floodwaters approach lowest lying homes along
hiscox Road in westerly. Along Route 3, flooding occurs at some
homes in French Village in Hopkinton.

* what... up to one half foot of inundation above ground level
expected in vulnerable areas near the Waterfront and shoreline.

* Where... southern New London and southern Middlesex counties.

* When... during the times of high tide Saturday morning through
Saturday afternoon.

* Impacts... brief minor flooding of the more vulnerable
locations near the Waterfront and shoreline.

* Shoreline impacts... breaking surf of 1 to 3 ft may result in
beach erosion and wave splashover onto shoreline roads and
properties possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive through flooded roadways.
