Issued: 9:10 AM MDT Oct. 17, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Air quality health advisory for wildfire smoke from 800 am
Thursday until 900 am Friday...

The Colorado department of public health and environment has
issued the following...

What... air quality health advisory for wildfire smoke.

Where... Gunnison, Ouray counties.

When... 800 am Thursday October 17 to 900 am Friday October 18

Additional details... periods of moderate to heavy smoke are
expected from the Cow Creek wildfire, located in eastern Ouray
County approximately 9 miles southeast of Ridgeway. Winds will
generally be out of the southwest during the day on Thursday,
transporting smoke to areas northeast of the fire. Daytime smoke
impacts will generally be limited to the uncompaghre National
Forest in eastern Ouray and southern Gunnison counties. Overnight
Thursday night and into Friday morning, southwesterly winds will
persist at the fire. This will continue to push smoke into the
same section of the Uncompahgre National Forest. The threat for
rain and snow showers will increase late Thursday night, which
could decrease smoke production by Friday morning.

Health information... public health recommendations: if smoke is
thick or becomes thick in your neighborhood you may want to remain
indoors. This is especially true for those with heart disease,
respiratory illnesses, the very Young, and the elderly. Consider
limiting outdoor activity when moderate to heavy smoke is present.
Consider relocating temporarily if smoke is present indoors and is
making you ill. If visibility is less than 5 miles in smoke in
your neighborhood, smoke has reached levels that are unhealthy.
