High Surf Advisory
Issued: 1:23 PM PST Dec. 14, 2019 – National Weather Service

... High surf advisory remains in effect until noon PST Monday...

* what... large waves 8 to 12 feet will gradually subside through
midday Monday. Dangerous rip currents and minor beach flooding
are also expected.

* Where... San Luis Obispo County central coast and Santa Barbara
County central coast.

* When... through noon PST Monday.

* Impacts... there is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip
currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large
breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and
rocks, and capsize small boats near shore.

* Additional details... northwest swell direction. Largest high
tides near 6.0 feet on Sunday with high tide around 11 am.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or stay
near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in
such conditions, stay off the rocks.

* Impacts... gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and
make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may
result.

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high
profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.
