Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 6:44 PM PST Dec. 8, 2019 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Oxnard has issued a

* flood advisory for...
the tick burn area in northwestern Los Angeles County in
southwestern California...

* until 830 PM PST.

* At 633 PM PST, National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
line of moderate to heavy rainfall heading toward the tick burn
area from the north. Rainfall rates with this line should range
between 0.25 and 0.50 inch per hour.

* Some locations and roadwaysa that could experience minor mud and
debris flows include...
Sierra Highway near Forest Park and Tick Canyon Road in the Canyon
Country area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is
harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

Move away from recently burned areas, if possible. Minor flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The rain will
likely trigger shallow mud and debris flows, minor Rock Falls, and
flooding capable of localized damage, especially in steep terrain
near burn scars. If sheltering-in-place in your home, move to the
highest level of your home and away from hillsides and canyons.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
