Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 12:25 AM MST Nov. 20, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from 7 am MST this morning through
Thursday morning...

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of east central and west central
Arizona, including the following areas, northern Gila County,
Oak Creek and Sycamore canyons, Yavapai County mountains, and
Yavapai County valleys and basins.

* From 7 am MST this morning through Thursday morning

* the Flash Flood Watch start time has been delayed until 7 am MST
Wednesday. Shower and isolated thunderstorm coverage is forecast
to increase across central Arizona by 7 am.

* A series of storm systems will bring periods of rainfall to the
area through Thursday. Embedded thunderstorms may produce rainfall
rates exceeding 1 inch in less than an hour. Storm total
rainfall may exceed 2 to 3 inches in many locations.

* These rainfall accumulations will result in rapidly rising
water in area washes, creeks and streams. This will lead to
areas of flooding, especially in low water crossings. Turn
around, don't drown.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that developing conditions may lead to
flash flooding within the watch area. People... especially those
located along area creeks... rivers or other flash flood prone
areas should continue to monitor later forecasts and be prepared
to take immediate action should flash flood warnings be issued.
