1151 am MDT Wed Jun 21 2017

... A Flood Warning for rain and snowmelt remains in effect until 615
PM MDT Friday for south central Sublette and east central Lincoln
counties...

At 1145 am Wednesday, the Green River near La Barge was holding
nearly steady around 10.0 feet. Flood stage is 9 feet and moderate
flooding begins at 10.0 feet. The river is expected to remain nearly
steady through Thursday before dropping to around 9.8 feet heading
into the weekend. This 10.0 foot level is similar to the crest
experienced earlier in June 2017. Widespread minor lowland flooding
is likely near the river. Area roads that could be impacted by the
flood waters include Lincoln County Road 318 near La Barge and
whalen Road.

At 1145 am Wednesday, the New Fork river near Big Piney was down to
7.4 feet. This reading is below flood stage of 8.0 feet but still
above action stage of 7.0 feet. The river level is expected to
fluctuate between about 7.2 and 7.6 feet through the end of the
week. The river level should gradually decline over the weekend and
fall below action stage.

Recreation of any kind is strongly discouraged on or along either
the green or New Fork rivers and their tributaries.

Even with cooler weather expected for the weekend, this Flood
Warning may eventually be extended due to the continued high water
on the Green River near La Barge.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Stay away from the river! The water is swift, cold, and dangerous.
Do not stand on the river bank as the river may have eroded away the
land beneath the bank. Never play, swim, walk, or drive in flood
waters!

Flooding is occurring. It is important to know where you are
relative to mountain streams, rivers, or creeks which can run high
during active snow melt. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
