... Flash Flood Watch now in effect until 10 PM EDT this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of northeast Kentucky and West Virginia, including
the following areas, in northeast Kentucky, Lawrence KY. In
West Virginia, Barbour, Braxton, Cabell, Calhoun, Clay,
Doddridge, Gilmer, Harrison, Jackson WV, Kanawha, Lewis,
Lincoln, Mason, Pleasants, Putnam, Ritchie, Roane, Taylor,
Tyler, Upshur, Wayne, Wirt, and wood.

* Until 10 PM EDT this evening

* although heavy rainfall will gradually be diminishing this
evening, flash flooding will still be possible for a couple of
more hours. Many areas have received 1 to 2 inches of rain today
with locally higher amounts having been reported.

* Flooding of urban and poor drainage areas remain possible. In
addition, flooding of small creeks and streams could still
occur. People residing near creeks and streams should monitor
the forecast and be prepared to take immediate action if
flooding occurs.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

Be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
