Wind Chill Advisory, Winter Storm Warning

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 PM EST this
afternoon...
... Wind Chill Advisory in effect from 6 PM this evening to 6 PM
EST Monday...

* what... heavy snow with some mixed precipitation of sleet and
freezing rain. Very cold wind chills expected. Additional snow
and sleet accumulations of 3 to 8 inches and ice accumulations
of a coating to around one tenth of an inch. Wind chills as low
as 20 to 29 degrees below zero expected. Winds could gust to 25
to 40 mph this afternoon through tomorrow.

* Where... eastern Windham County in southern Vermont and the
capital region and portions of the Mid Hudson valley including
eastern green and western Columbia County in east central New
York.

* When... for the Winter Storm Warning, until 4 PM EST this
afternoon. For the Wind Chill Advisory, from 6 PM this evening
to 6 PM EST Monday.

* Additional details... travel could be very difficult due to snow
and ice covered roads. Areas of blowing snow could significantly
reduce visibility. Snowfall rates will be 1 to 2 inches an hour
this morning. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning
or evening travel. Accumulating ice could result in downed tree
limbs and isolated power outages. The cold wind chills could
cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet
and ice will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will
combine to create low wind chills. Frostbite and hypothermia can
occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.
