Flash Flood Watch

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from noon MDT today through this
evening...

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for a portion of southwest New Mexico, including
the following areas: Southwest Mountains.

* From noon MDT today through this evening.

* Plenty of moisture and an unstable airmass will combine to produce
showers and thunderstorms over the Southwest Mountains this
afternoon and evening. Some of the rain will be heavy with the
potential for isolated flash flooding.

* Extreme caution is needed in and around the buzzard burn scar. If
the rain becomes heavy, this could lead to flash flooding with mud
and debris flows. This includes Forest roads 94, 38 and 233 as
well as bear, long and Five Springs canyons.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to
flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash
flood warnings be issued.
