Coastal Hazard Statement
Issued: 5:29 PM EDT Sep. 18, 2019 – National Weather Service

... High rip current risk now in effect through Thursday evening...

* locations... the New Jersey and Delaware beaches.

* Timing... continues through Thursday evening.

* Surf zone impacts... very strong rip currents will be dangerous
to anyone who enters the surf. Wave heights in the surf zone
are expected to be 5 to 7 feet through Thursday evening.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Swim near a lifeguard, however remember that this time of the year
there are less lifeguards on duty. If caught in a rip current,
relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in
a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
