... Flood Watch in effect from midnight CDT tonight through
Tuesday evening...

The National Weather Service in Hastings has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of central Nebraska, east central
Nebraska, and south central Nebraska, including the following
areas, in central Nebraska, Greeley, Howard, Merrick, Nance,
Sherman, and valley. In east central Nebraska, Polk and York.
In south central Nebraska, Adams, Buffalo, Clay, Dawson,
Fillmore, Franklin, Furnas, Gosper, Hall, Hamilton, Harlan,
Kearney, Nuckolls, Phelps, Thayer, and Webster.

* What... periods of heavy rain. Total rainfall around 2 inches
possible... with higher amounts of 3 or 5 inches possible in some
areas. Localized flash flooding could also occur.

* When... from midnight CDT tonight through Tuesday evening.

* Where... portions of central and south central Nebraska.

* Potential impacts... this could lead to flooding of low-lying
areas... creeks... and possibly some rivers.

* Uncertainty... some counties in north central Kansas may need to
be added to the watch. Heavy rain is possible... but there is
some uncertainty as to how persistent the heavy rain might be.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
