... Flood Watch in effect through Tuesday afternoon...

The National Weather Service in North Platte has expanded the

* Flood Watch to include portions of north central Nebraska and
west central Nebraska, including the following counties, Arthur,
Garfield, Grant, Hooker, and Wheeler.

* Through Tuesday afternoon

* heavy slow moving thunderstorms are expected to develop this
afternoon and this evening with periods of heavy rainfall
continuing into Tuesday morning. Rainfall amounts may approach
two inches locally.

* The heavy rainfall will lead to urban, small stream and
overland flooding of low lying areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
