... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 7 PM this evening
to 6 am EST Thursday...

* what... heavy snow expected. Plan on difficult travel conditions,
including during the morning commute on Thursday. Total snow
accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected. Locally heavier
amounts are possible on the Outer Banks.

* Where... portions of eastern North Carolina.

* When... from 7 PM this evening to 6 am EST Thursday.

* Additional details... be prepared for significant reductions in
visibility at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected. If you must travel, keep an extra
flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an

a coastal flood advisory, which is in effect from 1 am to 10 am
EST Thursday.

* Locations... sound side of Outer Banks Dare and Hyde County.

* Timing... late tonight and Thursday morning. Highest water on
sound side areas will be Thursday morning around high tide.

* Tidal departure... water levels 1 to 2 feet above ground level.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.


Time of high total tides are approximate to the nearest hour.

8 am EST Thursday.

* Winds... north 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

* Timing... tonight into early Thursday morning.

* Impacts... strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power
lines. Scattered power outages are expected.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph or
gusts in excess of 45 mph are expected. Winds this strong can
make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use
extra caution.
