The National Weather Service in Great Falls has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
west central Judith Basin County in central Montana...
southeastern Cascade County in central Montana...

* until 230 PM MDT.

* At 1232 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Over two inches of rain has
already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly along
smaller drainages leading to Belt Creek.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Neihart.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.

At 1257 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 10
miles northwest of Geyser, or 24 miles northwest of Stanford, moving
northwest at 5 mph. Very heavy rainfall and frequent lightning are
occurring with this storm.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

... Fire Weather Watch remains in effect from Wednesday afternoon
through Wednesday evening for low relative humidity for fire
weather zones 112, 113, 114, 115, 117 and 118...

* affected area... in Montana, fire weather zones 112 eastern
Glacier/Toole/central/eastern Pondera/Liberty, 113 hill and
Blaine counties, 114 Lewis And Clark National Forest Rocky
Mountain district-Rocky Mountain front, 115 Chouteau and Fergus
counties, 117 central and eastern Lewis And Clark National Forest
areas and 118 Helena and Townsend Ranger districts of the Helena
National Forest. For all districts, the Fire Weather Watch is
for lower elevation grassland locations.

* Winds... west 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* Timing... Wednesday afternoon through evening.

* Relative humidity... as low as 10 percent.

* Temperatures... in the mid 80s to mid 90s.

* Impacts... low humidity and gusty west winds could create
critical fire weather conditions over the lower land grass
locations.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are possible. A combination of gusty winds, low relative humidity,
and warm temperatures will create high fire growth potential.

Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in these
areas of this Fire Weather Watch.
