The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill MO has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Grand River near Gallatin.
* From Sunday afternoon to Tuesday evening.
* At 9:45 am Saturday the stage was 18.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Sunday afternoon and continue
to rise to near 27.7 feet by early Monday morning. The river will
fall below flood stage by Monday before midnight.
* At 26.0 feet... low-lying Woodlands and farmland along the river
flood.

the Grand River near Sumner.
* Until further notice.
* At 9:45 am Saturday the stage was 35.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 38.6 feet by
early Monday afternoon then begin falling.
* At 37.0 feet... State Highway 139 floods a half mile east of Sumner.
* At 28.0 feet... rural roads are under water.
* At 26.0 feet... rural land adjacent to the river is flooded.
* At 23.0 feet... bottomland 1 to 2 miles south of the gage begins to
flood.

the Grand River near Chillicothe.
* Until Wednesday evening.
* At 9:45 am Saturday the stage was 24.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 24.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 34.9 feet by
Sunday evening. The river will fall below flood stage Tuesday
before midnight.
* At 35.0 feet... U.S. Highway 65 south of Chillicothe is threatened
by flood water.
* At 28.0 feet... rural roads are under water.
* At 24.0 feet... low-lying cropland floods.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Kansas and Missouri, including the following
areas, in Kansas, Atchison KS, Doniphan, Johnson KS,
Leavenworth, Linn KS, Miami, and Wyandotte. In Missouri,
Adair, Andrew, Atchison MO, Bates, Buchanan, Caldwell,
Carroll, Cass, Clay, Clinton, Daviess, De Kalb, Gentry,
Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Jackson, Johnson MO, Lafayette, Linn
MO, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Platte, Putnam, ray,
Schuyler, Sullivan, and Worth.

* Through Sunday morning

* additional storm development is possible late this afternoon
into the evening hours. An additional one to two inches of
rainfall are expected through Sunday morning, with locally
higher amounts possible. These storms will produce heavy
rainfall over areas that are already saturated from recent
storms.

* Low-lying and flood-prone areas will be most susceptible to
the dangers of flash flooding. Areas near rivers, creeks, and
streams will likely become flooded during and immediately
after heavy rainfall. Be very careful if driving at night as
flood water are very hard to see.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
