Flood Warning

The Flood Warning continues for
the Missouri River at Atchison.
* From late tonight to Sunday September 29.
* At 8:47 PM Saturday the stage was 21.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 22.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Sunday morning and continue to
rise to near 24.6 feet by early Tuesday morning. The river will
fall below flood stage by early Saturday morning.
* At 22.0 feet... low-lying areas on the Missouri side of the river
begin to flood.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Missouri River at St Joseph.
* Until further notice.
* At 8:30 PM Saturday the stage was 19.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 22.2 feet by
Monday evening then begin falling.
* At 21.0 feet... Riverfront Park in St. Joseph begins to flood.
* At 19.0 feet... backwater from the Missouri River floods property
along the Nodaway river at Nodaway, Missouri.
* At 17.0 feet... lowland flooding upstream and downstream from St.
Joseph occurs.

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill MO has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Platte River near agency.
* From Sunday evening to Wednesday afternoon.
* At 7:30 PM Saturday the stage was 7.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Sunday before midnight and
continue to rise to near 23.9 feet by Monday morning. The river
will fall below flood stage by early Tuesday afternoon.
* At 20.0 feet... low-lying areas east of agency begin to flood.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Kansas and Missouri, including the following
areas, in Kansas, Atchison KS, Doniphan, Johnson KS,
Leavenworth, Linn KS, Miami, and Wyandotte. In Missouri,
Adair, Andrew, Atchison MO, Bates, Buchanan, Caldwell,
Carroll, Cass, Chariton, Clay, Clinton, Cooper, Daviess, De
Kalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Henry, Holt, Howard, Jackson,
Johnson MO, Lafayette, Linn MO, Livingston, Macon, Mercer,
Nodaway, Pettis, Platte, Putnam, Randolph, ray, Saline,
Schuyler, Sullivan, and Worth.

* Through this evening

* thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall are expected to develop
tonight across the watch area, persisting into the day Sunday.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches with locally
higher amounts will be possible.

* Low-lying and flood-prone areas will be most susceptible to
the dangers of flash flooding. Areas near rivers, creeks, and
streams will likely become flooded during and immediately
after heavy rainfall. Be very careful if driving at night as
flood water are very hard to see.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
