... Flood Warning extended until Tuesday afternoon...
the Flood Warning continues for
the Seneca Creek at Dawsonville.
* From late tomorrow afternoon until Tuesday afternoon.
* At 3 am Sunday the stage was 10.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 7.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Recent activity... the maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at
3 am Sunday was 10.8 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 11.9 feet by this
morning. The river will fall below flood stage late Tuesday
morning.
* Impact... at 11.0 feet... water from the creek enters the gage house.
Reports from this location may become sporadic. Multiple roads are
flooded, and water is also reaching the first floor of Old Black
Rock Mill.
* Flood history... this crest compares to a previous crest of 10.9 feet
on may 16 2014.

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
the District of Columbia...
Montgomery County in central Maryland...
central Prince Georges County in central Maryland...
Arlington County in northern Virginia...
the city of Falls Church in northern Virginia...
the city of Alexandria in northern Virginia...

* until 815 am EDT Sunday.

* At 1258 am EDT, the heaviest rain has ended, but creeks and
streams continue to rise out of their banks due to previous
rainfall. Numerous roads are closed due to high water. Flooding is
expected to continue overnight. Doppler radar estimated that
between 3 and 7 inches of rain has fallen across the area.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Arlington, Alexandria, Germantown, Rockville, Bethesda,
Gaithersburg, Bowie, Clinton, Olney, College Park, Fort Washington,
Greenbelt, Langley Park, Beltsville, fort Hunt, Damascus,
Forestville, Falls Church, Huntington and Lowes Island.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

northwestern Montgomery County in central Maryland...
Frederick County in north central Maryland...
Loudoun County in northern Virginia...

* until 630 am EDT Sunday.

* At 1200 am EDT, numerous roads are closed due to high water.
Doppler radar estimated rainfall amounts around 3 to 6 inches
across the warned area. Additional rainfall amounts up to one inch
are expected. Creeks and streams will continue to rise overnight.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Frederick, Leesburg, South Riding, Damascus, Broadlands, Lansdowne,
Lowes Island, Brambleton, Poolesville, Harry Grove Stadium,
Ashburn, Sterling, ballenger creek, Countryside, Mount Airy,
Purcellville, Brunswick, Walkersville, Braddock Heights and
Middleburg.
