The Flood Warning continues for
the Chapman creek near Chapman.
* Until Tuesday morning.
* At 2:45 PM Saturday the stage was 21.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
Monday evening.
* Impact... at 19.0 feet... lowland flooding occurs from near the town
of Industry upstream from Chapman to the Smoky Hill river
downstream from Chapman.

the Solomon river near Niles.
* Until late Wednesday night.
* At 2:30 PM Saturday the stage was 28.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 24.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 29.2 feet by
Sunday evening. The river will fall below flood stage Wednesday
early afternoon.
* Impact... at 27.0 feet... arrowhead Road west of Niles floods.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Smoky Hill river near Enterprise.
* Until further notice.
* At 2:45 PM Saturday the stage was 30.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 31.5 feet by
early morning of Memorial Day then begin falling. The river is
expected to remain in flood stage through the middle of next week.
* Impact... at 30.0 feet... Kansas Highway 43 just north of the river
floods.

the Smoky Hill river near Abilene Sand Spring.
* Until Wednesday evening.
* At 9:33 am Saturday the stage was 28.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 27.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will remain near 28.5 feet through Memorial Day.
The river is expected to fall below flood stage Tuesday night.
* Impact... at 27.0 feet... minor flooding begins along the Smoky Hill river
from Sand Spring to Abilene.

Flash Flood Watch

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday morning...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Kansas, east central Kansas, north central
Kansas, and northeast Kansas, including the following areas,
in central Kansas, Dickinson. In east central Kansas,
Anderson, Coffey, Douglas, Franklin, Geary, Lyon, Morris,
Osage, Shawnee, and Wabaunsee. In north central Kansas, Clay,
cloud, Ottawa, Republic, and Washington. In northeast Kansas,
Brown, Jackson, Jefferson, Marshall, Nemaha, Pottawatomie, and
Riley.

* Through Sunday morning

* scattered to numerous strong thunderstorms are expected late
this afternoon and through tonight. These storms may produce
very heavy rainfall and flash flooding in a short amount of
time, over an area that is already saturated from rainfall
earlier this week.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

... Significant weather advisory for Dickinson County until 930 PM
CDT...

At 833 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 4 miles northeast of Marquette to 6 miles
southwest of Lindsborg. Movement was northeast at 45 mph.

Nickel size hail and wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph will be possible with
these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Abilene, Herington, Chapman, Solomon, Enterprise, hope, Woodbine,
Carlton and moonlight.

This includes Interstate 70 between mile markers 267 and 289.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
