The National Weather Service has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch
247 in effect until 3 am CDT Sunday for the following areas

In Kansas this watch includes 15 counties

In central Kansas

Dickinson

In east central Kansas

Anderson Coffey Douglas
Franklin Geary Lyon
Morris Osage Shawnee
Wabaunsee

In northeast Kansas

Jackson Jefferson Pottawatomie
Riley

This includes the cities of Abilene, Alma, Alta Vista,
Burlingame, Burlington, Carbondale, Council Grove, Emporia,
Eskridge, Garnett, Grantville, Harveyville, Herington, Holton,
Junction City, Lawrence, Lebo, Lyndon, Manhattan, Maple Hill,
McFarland, McLouth, Meriden, Nortonville, Osage City, Oskaloosa,
Ottawa, Overbrook, Paxico, Perry, St. Marys, Topeka,
Valley Falls, and Wamego.




Flood Warning
Issued: 3:54 PM CDT May. 25, 2019 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Kansas river at Lecompton.
* From Sunday afternoon to late Monday night.
* At 2:30 PM Saturday the stage was 14.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will rise above flood stage by Sunday early
afternoon and continue to rise to near 17.1 feet by Sunday early
afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage by Memorial Day
afternoon.
* Impact... at 16.5 feet... low lying farm fields begin to flood along
the Kansas river.

Flash Flood Watch

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday morning...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Kansas, east central Kansas, north central
Kansas, and northeast Kansas, including the following areas,
in central Kansas, Dickinson. In east central Kansas,
Anderson, Coffey, Douglas, Franklin, Geary, Lyon, Morris,
Osage, Shawnee, and Wabaunsee. In north central Kansas, Clay,
cloud, Ottawa, Republic, and Washington. In northeast Kansas,
Brown, Jackson, Jefferson, Marshall, Nemaha, Pottawatomie, and
Riley.

* Through Sunday morning

* scattered to numerous strong thunderstorms are expected late
this afternoon and through tonight. These storms may produce
very heavy rainfall and flash flooding in a short amount of
time, over an area that is already saturated from rainfall
earlier this week.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
