Watches & Warnings

Special Statement
Issued: 2:55 PM EST Jan. 20, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Bitterly cold temperatures tonight and Monday morning...

As skies clear this evening... the coldest air of the season so far
is expected to overspread south central Indiana. Low temperatures
will drop to near zero or just below zero overnight with wind
chills falling as low as -10. Be sure to dress appropriately if
you plan to be out for any extended period of time tonight or
Monday morning.

Additionally... any snow or ice that melted today will refreeze
overnight and potentially result in slick driving conditions. This
is especially true on untreated secondary roads. Black ice is
very difficult to detect... and drivers should use caution if
traveling overnight or tomorrow morning.

... Wintry conditions remain across central Indiana...

Winter precipitation has exited central Indiana... however impacts
from the passed storm remain. Roads across central Indiana may
remain slick and snow covered. Gusty north winds may result in
blowing and drifting of snow... particularly along east-west
roads.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution today while driving.

Furthermore... very cold air will arrive in central Indiana today.
High temperatures will only reach between 10 and 18 today. This in
combination with north winds of 10 to 20 mph will result in wind
chill values as low as -10 to -14.

Be prepared for very cold conditions if you venture outside today
or tonight and be sure to cover all exposed skin.
