Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 3:28 AM CDT Sep. 22, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through 1 am CDT tonight...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Illinois and west central Illinois,
including the following areas, in central Illinois, Marshall,
Mason, Menard, Peoria, Stark, Tazewell, and Woodford. In west
central Illinois, Cass, Fulton, Knox, Morgan, Schuyler, and
Scott.

* Through 1 am CDT tonight

* widespread showers with a few embedded thunderstorms will move
into the Illinois River valley during today through mid evening.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2 inches are expected,
with locally 2 to 3 inch amounts possible. Areas northwest of
the Illinois River have already received widespread 1 to 3
inches of rain, with local 4 to 6 inches since Friday morning.

* Excessive rainfall rates could lead to flash flooding of many
low-lying and flood-prone areas. In addition, smaller creeks
and streams could potentially spill out of their banks.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Never drive across a flooded roadway especially at night. Monitor
later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood
warnings be issued.
