Watches & Warnings

Special Statement
Issued: 2:23 AM CST Jan. 20, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Slippery stretches on roads and bitterly cold wind chills
overnight...

Blowing snow has caused some slippery stretches on area roads
tonight, especially in open areas along and north of I-72 and
along and southeast of I-70 from a recent 2 to 5 inch snowfall.

Temperatures slipping into the single digits over central IL
overnight, combined with brisk northwest winds east of the IL
river, will result in bitterly cold wind chills ranging from 5 to
15 below zero north of I-70, with the coldest readings northwest
of the IL river.

If you will be venturing outdoors overnight into Sunday morning be
sure to dress in several warm layers, covering as much exposed
skin as possible. Also, be sure to wear a hat and gloves. If
traveling remain alert for icy and snow covered stretches on
roadways and reduce your speed.
