The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Menard County in central Illinois...
southwestern Fulton County in west central Illinois...
Cass County in west central Illinois...
Schuyler County in west central Illinois...
Mason County in central Illinois...

* until 1130 PM CDT

* at 534 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms
producing heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is
expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Beardstown, Havana, Rushville, Mason City, Virginia, Petersburg,
Athens, Ashland, Astoria, Bluff Springs, Greenview, Vermont, San
Jose, Chandlerville, Tallula, Arenzville, Bath, Middletown, Easton
and Kilbourne.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Illinois River at Havana.
* Until further notice.
* At 1245 PM Saturday the stage was 15.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 24.0 feet by
Saturday morning then begin falling.
* Impact... at 25.0 feet... water reaches the low steel on the IL 78/97
bridges over Lacy ditch and the spoon river... just north of The Wye
with US 136.

the Salt Creek near Greenview.
* From late Monday night until late Tuesday night.
* At 1045 am Saturday the stage was 3.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by early Tuesday morning and
continue to rise to near 16.3 feet by Tuesday afternoon.The river
will fall below flood stage by Tuesday evening.
* Impact... at 16.0 feet... widespread agricultural flooding is in
progress.

* From Monday evening until further notice.
* At 1000 am Saturday the stage was 446.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 456.6 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Monday evening and continue to
rise to near 460.0 feet by Wednesday evening.
* Impact... at 459.9 feet... flooding begins to impact some residences
in Chandlerville.
