Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 5:34 PM PST Feb. 18, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 10 PM this
evening to 3 am PST Tuesday...

* what... snow... up to 1 inch expected, especially in the
foothills. Snow levels will fall rapidly overnight to between
1500 and 2500 feet by early Monday morning and continue at those
levels into Monday night. Areas of northwest to north winds 15
to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph are expected.

* Where... Cuyama Valley.

* When... from 10 PM this evening to 3 am PST Tuesday.

* Additional details... be prepared for reduced visibilities at
times. The highest snowfall amounts will occur in the
foothills. There is the potential for light snow accumulations
and icy roads on Highway 166, causing possible travel delays.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will
cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered
roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

Wednesday...

* temperature... low temperatures between 24 and 28 degrees are
expected Monday night and Tuesday morning. A repeat of this
scenario will occur Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

* Impacts... a hard freeze can burst exposed pipes and kill crops
or sensitive vegetation. Extended exposure to cold can cause
hypothermia, including outdoor pets and livestock.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A hard freeze warning means temperatures of 28 degrees or less
for two or more consecutive hours are imminent. Protective
measures to save crops and sensitive vegetation should be
taken.Vulnerable animals and pets should be kept indoors in a
house or barn. Exposed pipes should be wrapped to keep them from
bursting.
