this evening...

* Areas affected... much of Arkansas except parts of the Ozark
mountains of the north.

* Temperature... highs will be in the 90s, with peak heat index
values from 100 to 110 degrees. Localized higher heat indices

illness, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The very

conditioning will be especially vulnerable.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. If
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or

plenty of water.

If you must be outdoors, the occupational safety and health
administration recommends taking frequent rest breaks in shaded
or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should
be moved to a cool and shaded location. If heat stroke is
suspected, call 9 1 1.

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in
vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during
warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal
temperatures in a matter of minutes.
