Area 1: ======= forecast valid from 172200 to 182200 utc:

Wind in knots, wave heights in meters. No sea state given if waves less than 3m.

Note the wind speeds quoted here are the expected average speeds. Individual gusts may exceed these values by a factor of up to 1.5. Wave heights are significant wave heights which may be accompanied by individual waves 1.5 to 2.0 times higher. These estimates of winds and waves do not take into account the enhancing effects of the Agulhas Current off the South African East Coast.

Area forecast ============== Ascension (06s/15s, 00e/20w) wind : S to se 10 to 15. Vis : good.

Angola (06s/15s, 00e/West Coast wind : se 10 to 15 in the South-West, otherwise S to SW 05 to 10. Vis : good.

St Helena (15s/30s, 00e/20w) wind : S to se 10 to 20 reaching 25 in the South-West, becoming NE 10 to 20 in the South-West by mid-morning. Vis : good, but moderate in showers and rain in the southern and central parts.

Trades (15s/30s, 00e/west coast) wind : se 10 to 20 reaching 25 in the extreme south-east. Vis : good, but moderate in showers in the South-West.

Tristan (30s/40s, 00e/20w) wind : S to se 15 to 25, but NW 25 to 35 in the South-West. Vis : good, but moderate in light showers in places in the east. Sea state: 3.0 to 4.0m in the South-West, S to se swell.

Cape west (30s/40s, 00e/20e) wind : S to se 15 to 25 but cyclonic 10 to 20 over the central parts. Vis : good in the North-East, otherwise moderate in showers. Sea state: 3.0m in the south-east in the second half of the period, S to SW swell.

Gough forties (40s/50s, 00e/20w) wind : variable 05 in the North-East at first, otherwise N to NW 25 to 35 reaching 40 to 45 in the west spreading towards the east by the end of the period. Vis : good, but moderate in showers in the North-East at first, as well as in the South-West spreading towards the north-west by the end of the period. Sea state: 3.0 to 4.0m in the east, reaching 5.0 to 6.0m in the extreme South-West, W to NW swell.

Meteor forties (40s/50s, 00e/20e) wind : variable 05 over the central parts, otherwise se 10 to 20 in the extreme north, but W to NW 20 to 30 reaching 35 in the South-West by the end of the period. Vis : good, but moderate in showers in the extreme North. Sea state: 3.0 to 3.5m in the south, SW swell.
