National Weather Service Sacramento California

Synopsis...
strengthening high pressure will result in dry weather with above
average temperatures into next week.

Discussion...
evening update: a plethora of high clouds will be moving sewd
through norcal overnite with the final impulse behind the trof axis
moving through the pac northwest. Timing tool suggests the back edge of
this cloud deck will move through the nrn portion of the County Warning Area before
sunrise and then shortly after sunrise over the sern portion of the
County Warning Area. Behind this feature, modest nly winds should develop with
adiabatic warming boosting temps a degree or two and into the high
90s to low 100s in the valley. This is the beginning of some
modestly hot temps that should last into early next week. Jhm

Previous discussion...

The forecast remains on track this afternoon as a broad trough
passes to our north. As a result of that, northern California is
seeing high clouds over the region this afternoon; however,
temperatures are still forecast to rise this afternoon as onshore
flow weakens.

Once the trough passes through the region, building high pressure
will dominate the rest of the forecast period. Expect to see and
feel above normal temperatures for most of the region through the
weekend. Most areas will be 5-7 degrees warmer than usual during
the day.

&&
Extended discussion (sunday through wednesday)...

For the extended period, our weather will continue to be
influenced by the upper level high which extends northwest from the
desert SW over interior northern California as east Pacific high
extends inland. Above normal temperatures look to continue
through Wednesday, with triple digit heat expected in the northern
Sacramento Valley with upper 90s elsewhere in the Central Valley.
