Discussion...
rain chances will gradually increase/spread across the fa over the
next few days and continue into next week. Moisture increasing
across the area along with the remnants of Imelda moving across East
Texas will bring a chance for showers/storms across southeast/east parts of
the fa the next couple of days, although current model trends have
the remnants tracking a little further east than previous model runs
which could mitigate the extent of activity associated with this
feature. Meanwhile, southwest flow aloft will also continue to
slowly spread into the region over the next couple of days as upper
trough in the western U.S. Moves eastward. Disturbances moving
through this flow will also bring chances for rain to the area. A
shortwave moving across the Central Plains and around the trough as
it lifts northeast will continue the chance of rain over the
weekend. Models show another trough moving into the western U.S.
Behind this system and eventually developing into a closed low that
slowly drifts east towards the area. This will continue the flow
over the region along with rain chances next week. Locally heavy
rain will be the main concern through at least this weekend but some
strong to severe storms could be possible in parts of the area
Saturday.

Clouds, rain, and maybe a potential front into parts of the fa will
lead to a slight cool down with temperatures closer to normal for
this time of year, but a stronger front/cool down does not look
likely at this time through next week.
